At HeartLand, leadership isn’t just a title. It’s a mindset rooted in accountability, growth, and relationships. That’s why, in 2021, we launched the Next Level Leadership (NLL) Program, a transformative initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders from within our organization.
This year, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 24 high-potential team members who completed the 2025 program. These individuals were nominated by their leaders and then selected through an application process that reflects their commitment to personal growth and professional excellence.
Since its inception, more than 110 employees have participated in the program, and nearly 40% have been promoted to new leadership roles. These outcomes are a testament to the power of investing in our people and their potential.
A Culture of Continuous Growth
The NLL Program offers a dynamic blend of virtual learning, peer-to-peer engagement, and real-world application. Each cohort experiences:
- Interactive workshops focused on coaching, communication, accountability, and financial management
- Strengths-based assessments that help participants better understand and apply their leadership style
- In-Person Leadership Summit where graduates present their key takeaways to HeartLand senior leadership
While the course curriculum is thoughtfully structured, what truly sets this program apart is the community it builds. It connects aspiring leaders from across HeartLand’s operating companies and empowers them to learn from one another.
A Milestone Moment
Last week, at our annual Leadership Forum in Kansas City, this year’s participants presented their final takeaways to operating company leaders. The capstone event marked both the culmination of their journey and their official graduation from the program. It was a proud moment not only for the participants but for all of us who believe in growing talent from within.
