At Signature Landscape, and across HeartLand’s companies, being an Account Manager means stepping into a role that’s dynamic, client-focused and proactive. No two days are the same! If you’re looking for a career that combines building relationships, problem solving and plenty of fresh air, this could be your perfect fit. To get a closer look at what an Account Manager in the landscaping industry does, we tagged along with one of Signature Landscape’s Senior Account Managers, Trevor Taylor.
Every day begins early, as Trevor starts the morning with gate checks, ensuring crews and equipment are ready to deliver Signature’s exceptional service. Some mornings, like today, feature a safety meeting to guarantee our crews and employees are well informed and prepared to maintain a safe workday.

After sending off crews for the day, Trevor begins some property visits. These often include inspecting trees, shrubs, and landscape beds to identify opportunities to improve the health and appearance of the landscape. Regular proactive visits help ensure every property continues to meet Signature’s high standards.
Throughout the morning, Trevor connects with the crews responsible for maintaining his properties. He works alongside Crew Leaders and Production Managers to discuss priorities, answer questions and make sure everyone has what they need to deliver the best results. Whether it’s turf maintenance, horticultural services or irrigation systems, different crews handle specialized tasks, and Trevor, as an Account Manager, brings everything together seamlessly for the client.

Often, Trevor drafts proposals and contracts to send to clients for our services. An important part of his job involves ensuring renewals of services for clients and identifying opportunities for enhancements to their properties. Every property visit is an opportunity to notice the small details before they become larger issues and propose custom recommendations for the client.
Some days, like today, Trevor is problem-solving alongside one of our talented irrigation technicians. Together, they visit one of the properties Trevor manages, listening to the client’s needs and coming up with the right solution as they walk through the property. This client was experiencing some drainage issues that called for our irrigation technician’s expertise and Trevor’s client-focused perspective to develop an effective solution.
Lunch today included an annual renewal meeting with one of Trevor’s clients to review next year’s contract and discuss upcoming landscape needs and enhancements. These meetings are crucial for building trust, aligning expectations and ensuring client satisfaction year after year.

Afternoons often include additional site visits throughout the Kansas City area. Each property presents something different. One property may require a close inspection of trees and shrubs, another may involve evaluating seasonal color, while a third might simply call for a routine visit to ensure crews are delivering the level of quality clients deserve. By consistently being present on his properties, Trevor can identify problems and opportunities and maintain strong relationships with every client he serves.
Of course, every day is different. Tomorrow might consist of financial management tasks, preparing enhancement proposals or meeting with new clients. At a HeartLand company, and specifically as an Account Manager, no two days are ever the same, but each day brings its own blend of client interaction, teamwork and strategic planning.
If you thrive on variety, value meaningful client relationships and love opportunities for fresh air, join us at Signature or any of our companies across the country. Each day will bring new challenges, fresh perspectives and endless opportunities for growth.
